Bugatti Chiron - Best hypercars

How do you follow the incredible Bugatti Veyron? With the Bugatti Chiron, of course

The Bugatti Chiron is “the world’s most powerful, fastest, most luxurious and most exclusive production super sports car” according to the French manufacturer. But we’re sure Bugatti won’t mind if we call it a hypercar.

Following on from the Bugatti Veyron, the Chiron carries over some basic vehicle architecture as well as the strapping W16 engine. The wheelbase might match that of its world-record setting predecessor, but the styling is new and the Chiron is slightly longer and wider than the Veyron. The engine has been completely reworked, however, and now produces a staggering 1,500bhp and 1,600Nm of torque, which Bugatti says is a 25 per cent increase in performance.

Four turbochargers are configured to ensure peak torque is delivered from 2,000rpm all the way to 6,000rpm. Customer cars are limited to 261mph, but Bugatti showed the ultimate potential of the Chiron in August 2019 when with Andy Wallace behind the wheel (the same man who took the McLaren F1 to its record-breaking speed, not to mention a Le Mans winner), a Super Sport 300+ prototype hit nearly 305mph. While not an officially-verified record, due to being recorded in one direction only, it’s an example of the remarkable engineering abilities of the Bugatti team.
