New Alpine A110 Pure, Legende and GT4 editions revealed

Three new editions of the Alpine A110 sports car have been unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, including a GT4 racer

Alpine has revealed three new versions of its A110 sports car at the Geneva Motor Show - two for the road in the shape of the Pure and Legende editions, and one GT4 variant for the racetrack.

Both road-going versions of the A110 feature the same aluminium chassis as the standard car, but have undergone distinctive set-up changes to widen the appeal of the Porsche 718 Cayman rival.

The A110 Pure edition is driver-focused, with ‘extensive’ weight saving measures making it the lightest model in the range at 1,080kg. This is achieved with microfibre interior upholstery and matte carbon fibre cabin trim, as well as 13.1kg Sabelt sport seats.

Options include Brembo brakes and an active sports exhaust, while two 18-inch wheel designs are offered in addition to the standard 17-inch set.

The Legende edition, meanwhile, focuses more on refinement, adding six-way adjustable seats, full leather upholstery and a gloss-finished carbon fibre interior, making it ideal for ‘everyday driving or long distance touring’ according to Alpine.

Both cars use the same mid-mounted 252bhp 1.8-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine, which is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Despite the tweaks inside and out, neither model receives an upgrade in performance.

Alpine A110 GT4 racer revealed

In addition to the Pure and Legende editions, Alpine has introduced its second racing version of the A110 following the arrival of last year’s A110 Cup.

Developed, built and sold by racing partners Signatech, the A110 GT4 receives more power and downforce than the Cup variant, although Alpine hasn’t quantified those gains.

Using the same - albeit highly tuned - 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine, the A110 GT4 registers a power-to-weight ratio of 312bhp per tonne, suggesting a sizeable performance boost.

Racing-spec suspension upgrades, Brembo competition brakes, racing tyres, a front splitter, rear wing and sequential gearbox are among the changes, as are a roll cage, fire extinguisher, a racing seat and harness.

The Alpine A110 will enter selected races in the second half of 2018, before full production begins in time for the 2019 season. A110 Cup owners have the option of upgrading to the full GT4 spec with a package of components, something Alpine claims to be unique in this category.
