Alfa Romeo Tonale Edizione Bambini is a one-off concept for stressed parents

Alfa has boosted the family-friendly credentials of its Tonale in a one-off concept car

Alfa Romeo has revealed a new one-off version of the Tonale that it claims is the perfect Alfa for parents of young children. It’s called the Tonale Edizione Bambini, and it transforms Alfa’s Porsche Macan rival into a four-wheeled changing room, playroom and more.

Among the new features is a slide-out baby changing unit found in the boot. Opening the tailgate reveals the modified load area with a bespoke parcel shelf from where the changing unit slides out. The padded mat is upholstered in an easy to clean man-made leather. The size and positioning of the changing unit means that the 500 litre boot capacity of the Tonale is unchanged.

Further additions include seat tidies shaped to fit the backs of the driver and front passenger seats. The tidies include a drinks holder, a bento box for holding snacks, and a pen holder.

The tidies are made from grey leather with an embossed Alfa Romeo logo, to accompany the Tonale’s standard upholstery. Space for a couple of ‘good behaviour charts’ is made within the two large carrying pockets, while extra padding and protective panels ensure some kick resistance - Alfa says research shows that children kick the back of the seat in front of them 3.5 times per journey.

For parents, the Tonale Edizione Bambini incorporates a monitoring system which can be connected to smartphones to ensure visibility of what’s happening in the rear seats at all times. Similarly, for bored children, connectivity features include tablet holders in the seat backs and a central toy tidy.

For rubbish, the one-off Tonale comes with a new six-litre bin secured in the rear footwell at the back of the centre console. For any further cleaning needs, a small car vacuum with a 12V charging cable is found in the boot and a boot organiser is home to a number of cleaning products.

Alfa Romeo has not indicated that any of the features of the Edizione Bambini will make production.
