2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio: specs and pics

Pricing is yet to be announced for Alfa Romeo's record-breaking Stelvio Quadrifoglio SUV ahead of its summer 2018 launch

Alfa Romeo has announced it’s record-breaking Stelvio Quadrifoglio SUV will land in the UK next summer. An official price is yet to be announced but a figure around £65,000 is expected.

The Stelvio is the Italian marque’s first SUV in its 107-year history. Back in September the Quadrifoglio model set the record for the fastest SUV around the infamous Nurburgring Nordschleife racetrack, lapping the 12.8-mile track in 7 minutes 51.7 seconds.

Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio review

It beat the previous record that Porsche held with its Cayenne Turbo S by eight seconds. Italian racing driver Fabio Francia conducted the record lap around the 12.8-mile track in the range-topping Quadrifoglio, powered by a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 producing 503bhp and 600Nm of torque.

Along with the grunt from the Ferrari-derived twin-turbo V6, the Quadrifoglio edition of the Stelvio features active suspension, with double wishbone front suspension and a Multilink suspension system at the rear.

The Quadrifoglio is fitted with Alfa Romeo's new four-wheel-drive system to distribute the 503bhp as efficiently as possible. The hot SUV also features torque vectoring as standard to distribute power and torque accordingly.

Alfa has also equipped Chassis Domain Control (CDC), which acts as the Quadrifoglio's brain and it works alongside the torque vectoring and four-wheel-drive systems, as well as Alfa Romeo's DNA Pro driving mode selector.

Carbon ceramic brakes have been fitted to the Stelvio Quadrifoglio along with Alfa Romeo's new integrated braking system, which couples the stability control with the standard braking power.

• Fastest Nurburgring lap times

The interior is lined with leather and pieces of carbon fibre are dotted around the cabin, with Alfa fitting its new 8-8-inch infotainment system onboard, which is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
