New 2016 Alfa Romeo Mito gets tweaked looks and more kit

The new Alfa Romeo Mito is on sale now, with a new trim structure at prices starting from £12,960

The Alfa Romeo Mito supermini has been updated for 2016, with a new trim structure, some visual updates, extra kit and a new engine choice. The styling changes are all meant to bring the car into line with the Alfa family look, first seen on the Giulia saloon – just as the facelift for the Giulietta did earlier this year.

Joining the range is a 1.3-litre JTDM-2 turbocharged diesel engine, which now has 94bhp and emits 89g/km of CO2.

A new grille, darker detailing on the headlights, a new rear bumper and some fresh alloy wheel designs all give the exterior a sharper look, while on the inside there's new seat trim, Alfa's Uconnect infotainment system and new materials for the dash and door cards. There's a new colour too, Alfa White, and the Mito logo now uses the same font as the Giulia badge.

The new trim range now goes from entry-level Mito to Super, Speciale and Veloce models. Standard equipment now includes 16-inch alloys, chrome detailing, air-conditioning, a DNA driving mode selector, DAB radio and a Uconnect touchscreen display.

The Super model gets cruise control, 17-inch wheels, fog lamps, part-leather seats, metal interior detailing, parking sensors, floor mats and a front centre armrest. Higher-spec Speciale cars add special alloys, a new steering wheel and red interior stitching. You'll also find sportier-looking instruments, sports seats and tinted windows, as well as some carbon-fibre-effect detailing on the outside.

Alfa's top-spec car is the Veloce, which replaces the old Quadrifoglio Verde model as the hot hatch of the range. It gets a 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine with 168bhp. It goes from 0-62mph in 7.3 seconds, and standard kit includes 18-inch alloy wheels, sports suspension, bigger brakes and twin exhaust pipes. Inside there's sat-nav and an upgraded infotainment system, plus all the sporty kit from the Speciale.
