Aston Martin One-77 Cycle

Stunning bike costs almost as much as an Aston Martin Cygnet, but is it worth the high price tag?

Overall Auto Express rating

4.0

Aston Martin has launched a One-77 bike to go with its £1.2m hypercar, and now we’ve taken the gorgeous two-wheeler for a spin.

The carbon frame has a stylish clean look, as the cables for the hydraulic disc brakes and Shimano Dura Ace Di2 electric gearing are integrated. LED lights are also built into the handlebars and seatpost. The seat is made from the same leather as the One-77’s interior, although this bike is built for speed rather than comfort.

The combination of the ultra-light frame and sturdy cranks means you can build up speed effortlessly. And you can see exactly how fast you’re going via the large touchscreen display, which also shows your altitude, torque and outside temperature. This data can all be uploaded to a computer at the end of your ride.

But it’s not perfect. Pete Muir, editor of our sister magazine, Cyclist, rode it and told us: “The full carbon wheels are incredibly stiff, giving a harsh ride on all but the smoothest tarmac, while the flexible rear triangle doesn’t inspire confidence in corners and when sprinting – it feels as if the wheels might tuck under.”

So it’s the ultimate piece of automotive artwork, rather than the best bike in the world – and at £25k, it’s for collectors only.
