In between honing your skills on the practice stage in rear-wheel-drive Ford Escorts, you get tuition and driving in a Subaru Impreza on the site’s longer sections. There’s even a competition against the clock at the end of the day.

Who better to give you a real rally experience than world championship-winning team Prodrive? Its Arrive & Drive package allows you to tackle two out of three activities over two hours. There’s a tarmac rally stage, a skid-pan session or a high-speed driving course on its 1.5-mile circuit. What’s more, you can opt to use your own car!

You’re spoiled for choice here, with front, rear or four-wheel-drive cars on offer for a half-day session. The first two cost £155, while the 4WD course is £225. After a briefing and laps with the instructor, you get three sessions behind the wheel on the tarmac stages. There’s a chance to try a rally simulator, too, and the price includes lunch.
Silverstone Autosport and Rally School

Next door to the home of the British Grand Prix is one of the UK’s longest established rally schools. There’s plenty of experiences to choose from, but the £149 Introductory Course gives three sessions. You learn to powerslide and handbrake turn in a Ford Escort MkII before putting the two skills together over the centre’s stages.
MSV RallyMaster

This MSV Master class features rally prepared rear-wheel-drive Escorts at Oulton Park and front-driven Peugeots at Brands, and teaches left-foot braking and handbrake turns. For £99, you get 15 minutes at the wheel – but the £149 Christmas Adrenaline package offers two 20-minute sessions if you book before the end of March.
