JS Raid Daytona Race steering wheel

Price: £699.99 (single trim); £799.99 (double trim)

Many drivers can be put off from fitting aftermarket kit in their car, as it doesn’t look as good as they hoped or compromises safety. Yet with the new Daytona steering wheel from JS Raid, there’s no need to worry about either.

For a start, a 60-litre airbag is incorporated in the 340mm diameter unit. The wheel also comes with brushed aluminium horn-push buttons as well as leather trim. Named after the famous Florida race track, the Daytona is designed to be compatible with most factory airbag systems. However, buyers might need to spend a further £70 on an airbag wheel adaptor.

There are no radio controls, although you do get sculpted sides for comfort. The supplier claims the model fits a range of cars, from Alfa Romeos to Volkswagens. As well as leather, it’s available in a single or double Alcantara finish, with silver stitching.

Verdict

 * Maker’s claim: “This stunning steering wheel is great to hold, and represents the ultimate in driving pleasure.”
