Triplewax Waterless Wash and Shine

We review cleaner to help you shine your car in a drought.

Triplewax Waterless Wash and Shine

Price: £8.49 (one litre)

Summer generally brings a hosepipe ban somewhere in Britain – and that would mean the only way many drivers can clean their car is with a waterless wash.

We put Triplewax’s new Waterless Wash and Shine through its paces on a door panel covered in dust, dirt, water trails and bird muck.

The big one-litre bottle looks good value, at only £8.49, although it’s bulky to store in the car. It has our preferred spray cap on the top, and the trigger is large and easy to use, dispensing a light mist on to our panel. Twist the cap to adjust the flow or shut it off altogether.

Using a clean microfibre cloth, we wiped the panel once to remove the dirt, then folded it and buffed the paintwork to a shine. You’ll need a few squirts to remove serious dirt, and the shine isn’t as good as that left by a dedicated polish.

Still, it’s effective, and could be just the thing to keep your car clean in the event of a hosepipe ban.

Verdict

Rating: ★★★★
What is it?
A new waterless cleaner which claims to replace your bucket, sponge and hose.
Problems?
Not as effective as a standalone polish, bulky bottle proves difficult to store.
Why buy?
Good cleaner, didn’t smear on paint, great value given pack size, easy-to-use spray cap.
