Stolen van and tools recovered in 50 minutes

A stolen vehicle recovery specialist has helped track down a stolen van and its tools in just 50 minutes

A stolen vehicle recovery (SVR) specialist, TRACKER, has helped police locate and return a stolen van in Lanarkshire.

The van was taken while engineer, Mark Keel, was out on a job and was full of valuable tools and equipment. Fortunately, Mark has TRACKER units fitted to his van for added security.

Van theft - keeping your vehicle secure

TRACKER's SVR products work in a similar way to electronic homing devices. A transmitter is hidden in several places within the vehicle, and, with no visible aerial, it's unlikely that a thief will discover it.

Mark Keel said: "I called 999 and gave them details of the TRACKER SVR unit and 50 minutes later the vehicle was located and recovered. The thieves had apparently left it there to check if it had a tracking unit on it, and so the van was recovered with all my equipment inside. After the initial shock it was a real relief to know I had a TRACKER on my vehicle, ensuring that it could be located swiftly with everything safe inside."

Stephen Doran, Managing Director of TRACKER, added: "A stolen vehicle can represent a major loss for a business, as it's not just the vehicle that's of value. This case highlights how the loss of a van and valuable tools and equipment is a security concern for all businesses. Because TRACKER's SVR system is operated by all UK police forces, it provides unparallel support to officers locating stolen vehicles.

"TRACKER's award-winning technology continues to help businesses protect their assets and aid police in bringing vehicle thieves to justice."
