Suzuki Celerio european specs revealed
Suzuki says its Citigo rival will have the lowest emissions in class
The Suzuki Celerio will boast the lowest emissions of any city car in the UK when it goes on sale later this year, according to the Japanese brand.
The company unveiled the European-spec version of its new city car at the Geneva Motor Show. The Celerio will replace the Suzuki Alto in the line-up. And, at 3,600mm long, 1,600mm wide and 1,530mm tall, it is longer and taller than the Skoda Citigo, and has a slightly longer wheelbase, too.
The stats suggest it will also be among the best-in-class for interior space. While the 254-litre boot will be three litres larger than the luggage capacity in the Skoda Citigo and two litres larger than what's on offer in the Hyundai i10 – which currently has the biggest boot in class.
But the big news is that the stop-start equipped three-cylinder 1.0-litre petrol engine will produce just 85g/km CO2 emissions. Not only that, but the car will be available with automated manual box, which Suzuki says gives the same economy as a standard manual. The equivalent Skoda Citigo manages 99g/km CO2 – so the Suzuki will undercut it by a decent margin.
Prices are exepected to be similar to those of the outgoing Alto, which starts from £7,199.
