Subaru Levorg: UK prices and details announced

Subaru confirms its new Levorg sports tourer will cost from £27,495 and feature a 168bhp 1.6 turbo petrol

Subaru Levorg

Subaru has announced pricing and specs for the all-new Levorg estate, on sale next month. The replacement for the old Legacy Tourer will launch with a 168bhp 1.6-litre turbo boxer petrol engine and one 'GT' trim level, priced from £27,495.

The Levorg made its debut at this year's Geneva Motor Show. Although buyers abroad get the choice of a 296bhp 2.0-litre turbo, Subaru has offered only one engine choice mated to a six-speed 'Lineartronic' CVT gearbox and a symmetrical all-wheel drive system. The 1.6-litre DIT unit is all-new, and generates 250Nm of torque.

It hits 0-62mph in 8.9 seconds, and Subaru claims it's capable of nearly 40mpg combined with CO2 emissions of 164g/km. However, we do expect the Levorg to eventually feature the more efficient 2.0-litre boxer diesel found in the current Outback.

The Levorg is also equipped with sportier features than the previous Legacy, namely a switchable drive mode and Active Torque Vectoring. Standard kit also includes auto LED headlamps and wipers, keyless entry and start, heated leather sports seats, dual-zone climate control and Subaru's latest 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment.

Standard active safety equipment includes the 'Subaru Rear Vehicle Detection' system, which utilises Blind-Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Alongside the usual array of active safety features Subaru predicts a five-star rating from Euro NCAP when it is tested.
