Skoda Citigo facelift priced from £8,635

Light exterior design and cabin tweaks en route for Skoda's Citigo city car

Skoda has announced the updated Citigo will be priced from £8,635. It was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show back in March with a slight front-end design rethink plus minor changes in the cabin.

At the front, Skoda’s city car gets a tinkered face with a new, creased bonnet plus an ever so slightly revised radiator grille. The car’s front bumper features a wider air vent stretching from corner to corner, with new rectangular fog lamps embedded within it.

The headlights now feature daytime LED running lights, while fog lamps with corner tracking make the options list.

Elsewhere, tinted tail lights are now on the options list for mid-range Citigo models, alongside contrasting black or white wing mirrors and roof panels.  A new set of 15-inch alloy wheels and a fresh shade of green paint round off the exterior design changes.

The new Citigo range includes four trim levels: S, SE, SE L and Monte Carlo. Entry-level models get Isofix fittings in the rear and USB ports. SE models (£9,635) cost an additional £1,000 but add 14-inch alloys, LED daytime running lights, air-con, a colour display and a six-speaker sound system. Step up to SE L (£10,280) and there's 15-inch alloy wheels, a leather multifunction steering wheel, rear parking sensors, heated front seats and electrically adjustable, heated door mirrors. Top spec Monte Carlo models (£11,170) feature black 15-inhc alloys, 15mm lower suspension, sports seats anda red centre console.

In the cabin a slightly re-arranged dashboard and dial setup is found and on high-spec cars, a two-tone dash now appears.

Skoda loves to tout its ‘Simply Clever’ features, and the Citigo facelift gains a new one  - an umbrella is stored under the passenger seat.

New-generation Blue and Swing model radio systems appear – the latter gaining a colour display, six speakers plus Bluetooth connectivity for iOS and Android smartphones.

Engines remain the same with two 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol options – one with 59bhp and the other with 74bhp. A full reveal will take place at the Geneva Motor Show next month, where Skoda will also reveal Scout and Sportline variants of its new Kodiaq SUV, plus the most powerful Octavia ever
