Exclusive Renault 5 Roland-Garros now on sale from £29,995

Renault 5 range gains special-edition tribute to French Open’s iconic venue

Rejuvenated in 2025 with electric power, the new Renault 5 has been a smash hit for Renault – and hoping to bolster its popularity even more is the new Roland-Garros special edition.

The Renault 5 Roland-Garros, which is named after the venue of the French Open tennis championships, was first unveiled in 2023 in concept form, and the production variant was revealed last year. Now we can confirm the special edition has gone on sale in the UK to Renault’s early-access R-Pass customers, costing from £29,995. This makes it £3,000 more expensive than the previous range-topping variant, the ‘iconic five’, although the Roland-Garros gets some bespoke tweaks and a high specification as standard.

Four paint finishes will be available for the new model: Arctic White, Midnight Blue, Diamond Black and an exclusive matte shade of Shadow Grey. The Roland-Garros also gets a contrasting metallic black roof – an option on other trim levels – along with 18-inch black diamond-cut alloy wheels and the tennis tournament’s logo on the front doors. This depicts the Cross of Saint Andrew, which is prominent on the centre court at the stadium.

Inside the Renault, there’s light grey upholstery and the company says the fully recycled dense weave is inspired by sports clothing. The backrests of the front seats have Roland-Garros logos embossed on them, while the door panels and lower part of the dashboard include fabric insets in deep blue, plus a small French flag. And running across the satin metal dashboard is a strip displaying the name “Roland-Garros Paris”.

The grip of tennis rackets inspired the design of the column-mounted gear shifter and with Roland-Garros being famous for its bright orange clay courts, the wireless smartphone charger and floor mats are clay-coloured. The brushed aluminium doorsills also bear the name “Roland-Garros Paris” with graphics showing the Cross of Saint Andrew.

Unlike the rest of the Renault 5 range, the Roland-Garros doesn’t come with the option of the 118bhp electric motor and smaller 40kWh battery. Instead, the new edition is based on the ‘Comfort Range’ version with a 52kWh battery and a 148bhp motor. These allow up to 252 miles of range and a 7.9-second 0-62mph time.
