Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 review

The Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric is capable and consistent handling in the wet and dry are the outstanding qualities of this impressive tyre

Second by the slimmest of margins, the new Eagle Asymmetric 6 is an outstanding tyre, shining especially brightly in the dry tests, where it topped the table in braking and set the pace around the sweeps and turns of the handling circuit too.

It was also impressive in the wet, jointly topping the table in cornering. And although it finished mid-pack in the rest of the tests, as its percentage scores show, it was not very far off the pace.

It felt great to drive in the dry, with a sense of strong grip through the steering and an excellent handling balance that made it responsive but secure, and easy to get the best from as a result. Better still, its character was the same in the wet, with a safe, understeer-led balance and a well tied-down rear that made it agile enough but still feeling secure and capable. Consistent behaviour in all conditions is a great attribute in a tyre.

There was some rumble apparent on the wet surface and this was evident on our road course too, which dropped the Goodyear down the order a little, though in terms of ride it was good at smoothing off sharpness in the surface. Factor in an excellent third place in rolling resistance and it all adds up to an impressively well rounded and capable tyre.

Blackcircles.com says…

“Drivers value the fuel economy of this tyre. Its excellent grip in wet conditions inspires confidence.”
