Porsche 718 Boxster unveiled - pictures

Porsche has completely unveiled the revised Boxster, with a four-cylinder engine for the first time.

The 2.0-litre flat-four unit will provide the new Boxster with 296bhp, while the Boxster S will use a 2.5-litre flat-four with 345bhp.

Downsizing the engines has been done to increase efficiency and reduce emissions.

The 718 Boxster gets a stylish new look, with a 'flatter' design all around.

There are no details yet on a Cayman sibling for the Boxster, but we expect the changes to that car to be similar.

As before, the Boxster eschews a folding hard top for a fabric roof.

The standard car has a price tag of £41,739.

The new 718 Boxster models are faster than their predecessors from 0-62mph by 0.8 seconds and 0.6 seconds for the Boxster and Boxster S respectively.
