New sporty Porsche 911 GTS versions unveiled

Porsche 911 GTS models will arrive in March, and be available in Coupe, Cabriolet and Targa variants

Porsche has expanded the 911 range with the introduction of the latest GTS model, adding a more powerful and driver-focused 911 to the line-up.

The 911 GTS is available in rear- or all-wheel drive, and in Coupe, Cabriolet and Targa variants, with prices starting at £94,316 for the rear-wheel drive GTS Coupe. The range tops out at £108,144 for the all-wheel drive Targa 4 GTS model.

It’s powered by an uprated version of the same 3.0-litre flat-six engine in the standard 911, meaning the GTS is also now turbocharged. Porsche has tweaked the engine to produce an extra 30bhp, up to 444bhp. That’s 20bhp more than the previous naturally-aspirated GTS model.

There’s a choice of gearboxes, with a seven-speed manual or PDK dual-clutch gearbox both available. Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) is standard, with the car being lowered by 10mm (and a further 10mm on the GTS Coupe versions). The Sport Chrono pack, adding dynamic engine mounts and a sports exhaust is also fitted.

The fastest accelerating GTS in the range is the 911 Carrera 4 GTS fitted with the PDK auto; 0-62mph is a claimed 3.6 seconds. Porsche also says this model is the most efficient, too, returning economy of 34mpg and 188g/km of CO2.

All cars use the wider 1,852mm chassis from the AWD variants, giving even the RWD cars a sportier stance, while a new front bumper design and bigger rear spoiler feature as well.

At the back there are smoked lenses for the lights, a black air intake grille and twin exhaust pipes, plus a black strip between the taillights on RWD cars, which is illuminated on AWD ones. The Targa gets a black roof bar, while all models get new 20-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, GTS models get Alcantara seats with GTS logos, aluminium trim and a stopwatch on the dash. There’s also an updated version of the Porsche Track Precision app, letting you display driving data on your smartphone.

The 911 GTS is available now, with first deliveries in March - and buyers get a free driving day at Porsche’s facility at Silverstone, too.
