New 2019 Nissan Navara pick-up launched

Nissan has launched a refreshed version of the Navara pick-up. Updates include a revised chassis setup, a new manual gearbox, and extra technology. The new Navara goes on sale on 1 July 2019, with prices starting from £21,850 (+VAT) for the base-model King Cab manual, rising to £31,125 (+VAT) for the range-topping Double Cab automatic.

Chassis revisions for the new Nissan Navara start with the roll-out of the truck’s multi-link rear suspension setup to the King Cab variant, increasing the base-model’s payload by 46kg and meaning that the whole range is now available with fully independent suspension. Nissan has also revised the Navara’s braking system, fitting disc brakes to the rear axle in place of the old model’s drums, as well as a larger brake servo and bigger front discs.

In the engine bay, Nissan has retuned it’s lesser-powered 2.3-litre four-cylinder diesel, adding new twin turbochargers. Power remains the same at 161bhp, but torque has increased by 22Nm over the previous version to 425Nm. The engine upgrade is complemented by a new six-speed manual transmission with longer ratios and a shorter shift pattern.

The Japanese brand’s more powerful 188bhp four-cylinder diesel remains available on Accenta Plus models and above. It can be specced with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic gearbox and four-wheel-drive. The lesser-powered model can only be had with four-wheel-drive and a manual gearbox.

Styling revisions include new 17- and 18-inch alloy wheels and fresh black headlight surrounds. The Navara also gets Nissan Connect for the first time, which lets owners remotely operate the pick-up’s door locks, check the status of its fuel and fluid levels and pre-programme sat-nav routes ahead of departure using a smartphone application.
