New Nissan Micra N-TEC revealed

New Micra N-TEC will be a feast for tech-hungry supermini buyers when it goes on sale next month

Details of the new Nissan Micra N-TEC have been released ahead of its Frankfurt Motor Show debut next month. The new trim level adds improved technology, including sat-nav, internet connectivity and rear parking sensors. 

Positioned between the current Acenta and Tekna models, all N-TEC cars get the latest-generation NissanConnect infotainment system (a £500 option for the Acenta trim) nestled within a gloss black console boasting 5.8-inch satellite navigation and smartphone integration.

It also get’s Google Send-To-Car function which lets you plan your route on a computer or tablet and send it directly to the car’s navigation system. Inside, further upgrades include contrast blue stitching on the upholstery and a leather steering wheel. 

Nissan will offer the Micra N-TEC with the existing 79bhp 1.2-litre petrol engine or supercharged 97bhp 1.2 DIG-S. Prices start from £12,400 for the naturally aspirated manual, though the lesser-powered car also comes with the option of Nissan’s CVT auto.

Other features which have been carried over from the lower Acenta model include automatic climate control, lights and wipers as well as front fog lights. The alloy wheels jump up to 16 inches and tinted windows are standard too. 

Completing the kit list are parking sensors and Nissan’s Parking Slot Measurement – a system that alerts the driver upon approaching a parking space that is large enough for the vehicle. Within the settings you can tell it whether you consider yourself to be an amateur, a normal or an expert parker. 

It’ll be revealed at Frankfurt on 15 September, with the first cars arriving in UK dealers soon after.
