Nissan Juke gets updated diesel engine

The Nissan Juke is now available with a revised 1.5 dCi diesel engine

The Nissan Juke is now available with an upgraded 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine. The diesel has accounted for around a third of the Juke’s 19,000 UK sales so far, and that success is set to continue thanks to the fact that the engine is now 14 per cent more economical, but with no change to the Juke’s price.

The improved 1.5-litre dCi engine has the same 108bhp power output, but offers an extra 20Nm of torque, taking the total to 260Nm. The supermini-SUV has the same 0-62mph sprint time, at 11.2 seconds, and the same 109mph top speed.

The big improvement has been made with fuel economy. Thanks to a new turbocharger, variable oil pump and stop-start fitted as standard, fuel economy is up by 14 per cent, from 58.9mpg to 67.3mpg. CO2 emissions fall by 12 per cent, from 124g/km to 109g/km, too.

The Juke also benefits from revised gear ratios – first and second are now shorter to improve response, while third to sixth are longer to take advantage of the extra torque.

The car also includes three driving modes – Eco, Normal and Sport. Opt for Eco, and torque is capped at 220Nm, while the throttle pedal sensitivity is reduced.

The 1.5 dCi engine is available across the Juke range, including in the new n-tec trim but not the range-topping Nismo.

When equipped with the new engine, the Juke Visia starts at £14,895; the Acenta starts at £16,390, the Acenta Premium – with Nissan Connect – costs from £17,390. The top-selling Juke n-tec is priced from £17,690, while the top-spec Tekna starts at £18,390. Order books are open now.
