How to prepare your car for your holidays (sponsored)

If you’re driving your car on holiday, take some time to ensure you’re properly prepared to make best use of your time away.

Summer holidays: an excuse to get away with the family, and your car is the ideal companion for a safe and easy form of transport. But not having the right accessories could put a dampener on your holiday.

Here’s our guide to the holiday essentials – and all of them are available from your local Nissan dealer.

Extra storage

Firstly, get yourself a boot organiser. You’ll no doubt be carrying a lot of gear on holiday, and failure to organise and store it will not only result in a messy boot, but it’s also a safety hazard. The last thing you need is your luggage falling out when you open the boot, or poorly-loaded luggage flying forward if you have to brake suddenly.

Any holiday maker will know that hiring a bicycle can be costly, so taking your own bike makes sense. Your local Nissan dealer can supply you with the best bike rack suitable for your car – whether it’s one for the tailgate or the roof. All racks are safe and easy to attach to your car, freeing up valuable storage space inside.

Roof bars are invaluable for summer holidays, but getting generic ones from a car accessory shop can be a false economy as there’s no guarantee they’ll fit your car properly. Visit your local Nissan dealer who will have the right ones for your car – they’re safe and easy to fit.

Once those roof bars are fitted, it’s time to get yourself a roof box. They’re ideal for holidays as they get some of the holiday-specific items out of the way and prevent your boot from overflowing. Nissan roof boxes are made from tough, lightweight materials and are aerodynamic, making for quiet progress while on the move.

Travelling abroad

A first aid kit is vital on a holiday as you never know when you may need one. Your local Nissan dealer can supply you with a compact kit that has all the essentials.

Depending on where you’re travelling, you will need mandatory safety equipment. In most European countries, it’s compulsory to have a warning triangle, high-vis jackets for all occupants and GB stickers or logos on your numberplate.

In others, like France, having a breathalyzer is deemed essential equipment. Other countries have different legal requirements, so check before your travel and if you’re unsure, speak to your local Nissan dealer who can help.

For more information, the very best service and peace of mind, visit your local Nissan dealer.
