Foxconn Model V all-electric pick-up truck unveiled

Apple iPhone maker Foxconn could still bring its EVs to Europe

Foxconn Model V

Foxconn has expanded its range of cars to three, with the new Model V pick-up truck joining the Model C SUV and Model E saloon. The cars themselves won’t reach customers, but instead act as a reference point to other companies as a brand-to-brand production line.

Although Foxconn is the maker of Apple iPhones, any hope that the likes of the Model V pick-up truck could wear the Apple logo in the future seem far-fetched. Foxconn has already signed partnerships with several big-name companies such as Stellantis, Rivian and Volvo’s Chinese owner, Geely.

The Model V truck sits on the firm’s new Hon Hai Open Platform, which is also designed to cater for the saloon, SUV and sporty GT market. The firm has previously said it would use batteries with power outputs ranging between 134bhp to 858bhp.

Targeted range figures also stretch from 186 miles to more than 497 miles. Given the Model V’s upright body style a range figure nearer to 186 miles would be expected. Foxconn claims the Model V will have a one tonne payload and a towing capacity of three tonnes.

Pitched with a five-seat double cab design, the Model V also features some impressive technology such as digital wing mirrors and a foot-operated electric tailgate. Inside we can expect to see a similar setup to the Model C, with a large infotainment screen on the dash, a digital driver's display and touch-sensitive buttons for the climate control function.
