Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Concept-S: Paris debut

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV-based Concept-S gets Paris Motor Show debut

Mitsubishi has revealed the Outlander PHEV Concept-S – a more stylish and upmarket version of the standard plug-in hybrid Outlander. It made its debut at the Paris Motor Show today.

The Outlander PHEV Concept-S will make production within 12 months, according to Mitsubishi's UK boss Lance Bradley. The styling will also influence the next-generation ASX.

The Concept-S is finished in a special Platinum White Glass Flake paint, and comes complete with new front-end styling. The lights are more angular, complete with chrome that flows down around the bumper and in to a set of fake inlets on either side.

We haven’t got pictures of the rear at the moment but we’re expecting the chrome pattern to be mirrored, along with some redesigned tail lamps. The Concept-S is fitted with a newly designed set of alloy wheels, too.

A shot of the interior reveals Mitsubishi has fitted the Concept-S with some high quality materials. There’s black grain wood in the door panels and centre console, while high quality leather with contrasting white piping covers the seats, lower dash and doors.

Based on the original Outlander PHEV, which itself premiered at Paris back in 2012, power for the Concept-S comes from the same four-cylinder 2.0-litre petrol and twin electric motor system. This will see up to 204bhp sent to all four wheels, resulting in a 0-62mph time of around 11 seconds and a top speed over 100mph, while offering a claimed 148mpg and emissions as low as 44g/km CO2.
