The S-Class Cabriolet is pitched to steal sales from the likes of the Bentley Continental GTC.
The S-Class Cabriolet has one of the most sophisticated soft-tops available, with several layers of heat and sound insulation.

With the roof up, the profile of the Cabriolet is almost unchanged from the sleek S-Class Coupe.
Dimensions are identical to the Coupe.

The large, luxurious drop-top is the first car of its type to come from Mercedes in over 40 years.
The cabin has been given new kit to aid with roof-off motoring, such as a new Thermotronic climate control system and neck-level heating ducts on the seat.

We expect the Mercedes S-Class Cabriolet to add about £10,000 to the £96,000 starting price of the Coupe.
Under the skin, Mercedes has concentrated on making the Cabriolet as strong and stiff as possible.

From launch, two versions will be available - the S500 with a 4.7-litre, 449bhp V8 and the S63 AMG with a colossal 577bhp from its 5.5-litre bi-turbo V8.
The use of aluminium and magnesium compensate for the extra weight added by the folding roof mechanism.

The roof retracts electrically in 20 seconds and can be raised or lowered at speeds of up to 37mph.
The flagship S63 AMG features carbon-ceramic brakes and air suspension as standard.
