Mercedes E-Class facelift

Mercedes E-Class set for an early facelift to stave off competition from BMW 5 Series and Audi A6

Mercedes is preparing a facelift for the E-Class in response to the newer BMW 5 Series and Audi A6

Judging by these spy shots, the E-Class will ditch the split headlights from the current model and replace them with sleeker units like those found on the recently updated C-Class. LED daytime running lights are incorporated into the cluster, rather than being set into the lower front bumper as they are on the current E-Class. A lack of camouflage at the rear suggests changes here will be minimal.

Elsewhere, Mercedes is likely to update the COMAND multimedia interface, improve some of the interior materials and tweak the suspension set-up. The updated E-Class will go on sale later this year with prices starting from around £30,000.
