• Mercedes B-Class - front tracking

The B-Class brings a dose of Mercedes quality and comfort to the compact MPV sector. Three trim levels are available in the form of SE, Sport and AMG Line versions.

  • Mercedes B-Class - rear tracking

Two petrol engines are available along with four diesels. There's even the option of the 'Electric Drive' version which has a range of 124 miles.

  • Mercedes B-Class - cabin

Air-conditioning, a reversing camera and a leather three-spoke steering wheel come as standard on all models.

  • Mercedes B-Class - rear seats

Space and practicality in the B-Class trails the class leaders, but a sliding and reclining 60:40 split/fold rear bench is standard.

  • Mercedes B-Class - boot

The split-level boot floor brings a level of flexibility but even then, the boot space in the B-Class is a comparatively cramped 488 litres. Space with the rear seats folded expands to 1,545-litres but this still trails the Ford C-M

  • Mercedes B220 CDI 4MATIC Sport - front tracking

The lower, wider stance gives the B-Class more presence on the road, while the domineering two-bar grille wears the huge three-pointed star. The AMG Line sits even lower thanks to sportier suspension.

Three trim levels are available with the B-Class; with the entry-level SE, the mid-range Sport, and the range-topping AMG Line.

  • Mercedes B220 CDI 4MATIC Sport - interior

The storage space in the B-Class comprises of a large, two-tier, air-conditioned glovebox, vast door bins and several cupholders. Automatic models gain even more space on the transmission tunnel with some lidded cubbies.

Six-speed manuals come as standard but the optional seven-speed automatics are seamless and also a joy to drive.

  • Mercedes B220 CDI 4MATIC Sport - sat nav screen

Inside the B-Class, an eight-inch colour display is mounted above the centre console with access to various multimedia functions.

  • Mercedes B220 CDI 4MATIC Sport - rear tracking

The lower centre of gravity and supple suspension grants the B-Class a comfier and more dynamic ride than those in most MPV's.

  • Mercedes B220 CDI 4MATIC Sport - badge

Mercedes do offer a four-wheel drive B-Class, but only in the form of a B220 CDI with it's 2.1-litre diesel engine.

  • Mercedes B220 CDI 4MATIC Sport - cornering

SE and Sport versions come with 'Comfort Suspension' as standard which maintains body movement well. The AMG Line has stiffer, sports suspension which further aids grip, but compromises the ride over rough surfaces.

  • Mercedes B220 CDI 4MATIC Sport - screen

The Mercede SLS-style metal air vents decorate the centre of the dashboard in the B-Class.
