New McLaren 720S Track Pack unleashed for 2019

New track-focused £28,360 McLaren 720S pack includes six-point harnesses and a 24kg weight reduction

McLaren has revealed a new Track Pack specification for the 720S, which is aimed at owners intending to rack up plenty of track miles.

It’s similar to other Track Packs available across the McLaren range, being a mixture of mechanical and visual changes and a bit of weight saving, too. Spec the Track Pack and the 720S becomes 24kg lighter, while there’s also a new pair of bonnet intakes, new rear fender intakes and door mirrors, all now finished in carbon fibre.

Elsewhere, the 720S Track Pack rides on a set of new lightweight 10-spoke wheels and gets a faux gloss carbon fibre finish on the rear wing. The soundtrack is ramped up with the addition of a sports exhaust, while a bit of visual panache is injected thanks to an ambient light system equipped in the engine bay.

In the cabin a pair of carbon-fibre racing seats are joined by a steering wheel trimmed in Alcantara. A full six-point racing harnesses takes the place of the regular seat belts.

Like the 720S, the Track Pack gets a selectable track mode for both its handling and pwertrain settings while also getting carbon-ceramic disc brakes as standard. A telemetry system is the final addition, which also features video cameras for recording laps.

The 720S Track Pack will be available early in 2019, priced from £224,700 – that’s a £28,360 premium over the regular car.
