Bespoke McLaren 720S unveiled at Dubai Motor Show

Assembled by McLaren Special Operations, the one-off 720S has been tailor-made for a Dubai-based client

A one-off McLaren 720S has been unveiled at this year’s Dubai International Motor Show courtesy of the British marque’s bespoke offshoot McLaren Special Operations (MSO).

Black and gold paint schemes are normally associated with Lotus Formula One cars of the 1970s, but MSO has given the black and gold treatment to this custom 720S that has been commissioned for a client in Dubai.

A specially designed satin black coating has been developed by MSO with gold painted on the wheels, also featuring in the form of a quote from founder Bruce McLaren engraved in Arabic into the rear wing. “Life is measured in achievement, not in years alone,” are the words written across the special edition 720S.

As a nod to the legendary McLaren F1 of the 1990s, the engine heatshield has been lined in 24-carat gold, with the black leather interior lined with gold inserts to give it that extra Dubai touch. A special ‘1 of 1’ plaque is situated on the left side of the cabin beneath the steering wheel, declaring its exclusivity.

Along with the black and gold interior, the special 720S also has carbon fibre trinkets dotted around the cabin, such as on the steering wheel, reminding the driver of its sporting credentials.

The 720S is powered by McLaren’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 staple producing 710bhp and 770Nm of torque. 0-62mph takes just 2.9 seconds and top speed is 212mph.
