The Lexus hoverboard is real and it works - pictures

Lexus have released a final video of the hoverboard in action.

The hoverboard has been shown riding over banked corners, ramps and water. 

The theory of the hoverboard is based around 'Magnetic levitation technology'.

The hoverboard was demonstrated in action by professional skateboarder Ross McGouran. 

The board uses a specially fabricated track with permanent magnets creating a magnetic field.

The project is a joint venture between Lexus, German institute IFW Dresden and superconductor specialists Evico GmbH.

The board contains two 'cryostats', reserviors with superconducting material that must be chilled to -197 degrees. 

To achieve the cooling of the superconductor materials, designers have employed the use of nitrogen.

McGouran said riding the hoverboard was a "whole new experience". 

These boards will not be hitting streets soon, mainly based that streets would have to be alced in magnets to make the technology work.
