The Defender Autobiography is the final piece of the Celebration Series puzzle of special editions being rolled out as production of the iconic 4x4 comes to an end. It costs a not-insignificant £61,845.

While the Adventure and Heritage editions pay homage to the car's utilitarian history, this Autobiography is an all-out luxury version that's just as at home on the King's Road as it is in a muddy field.

Inside, it's still familiar and the cramped driving position remains, but plush leather and aluminium trim helps to ease this somewhat.

There's also deep-pile carpets, an Alpine stereo and meaty subwoofer to bring things up to date.

Autobiography-embossed seats are hand-stitched.

Under the bonnet, there's a 2.2-litre diesel with 148bhp and 400Nm of torque.

It's faster than the standard Defender, but it's by no means quick.

The driving experience is still just the same as the rest of the Defender range.

A few subtle Autobiography badges hint at this model's luxury.

Despite all of the car's negatives (including the eye-watering £61k price tag), the Defender Autobiography's character and charm will draw you in like no other model on sale.
