Hyundai i30 N

Just because it's the new kid on the block, doesn’t mean the i30 N isn’t a force to be reckoned with

The i30 N is helping Hyundai shed its old reputation for drab, bargain basement cars, and helping show that it means business on the world automotive stage. The hot i30 comes from the relatively new ‘N’ division which is to Hyundai what AMG is to Mercedes and Type R is to Honda.

The i30 N naturally has its roots in the standard i30 hatch, but has a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine kicking out 247bhp (271 with the Performance Package) and 353Nm of torque under the bonnet. This means the South Korean hot hatch will hit 62mph from a standing start in just 6.4 seconds.

Hyundai i30 N review

The handling gets along with twisting British B-roads like a house on fire, while the car’s set-up can be endlessly configured to suit the driver. That being said, the firmest suspension setting is best avoided when the going gets particularly bumpy.  The interior isn’t as special as some of its competition, but you do get a drive mode selector on the steering wheel and a set of more racy seats to hold you in whilst driving.
