Ford launches approved Performance Parts for RS, ST and Mustang range

A new range of approved aftermarket performance upgrades for its fastest models including the Ford Focus RS and ST

Ford has announced its own approved range of chassis, engine and cosmetic Performance Parts for its Fiesta ST, Focus ST and RS and Mustang. The official aftermarket performance upgrades come from a range of Ford tuning specialists such as Roush and all are covered by Ford’s warranty.

Ford’s range topping Mustang GT gains engine upgrades with the Performance Calibration Power Packs offered in three different stages. It can increase the rev limiter of the 5.0-litre V8 to 7,500rpm from the standard engine’s 6,500rpm. A supercharger kit from Roush can also be specified, increasing power from 412bhp to over 592bhp. As yet, these parts are not homologated for road use, however.

The upgrades for the Mustang also include the option of a stainless steel exhaust from Borla, which is available for the 2.3-litre and 5.0-litre V8 models.

Available for all models is an adjustable coilover strut and shock absorber kit, which drops the ride height by 40mm. Lightweight 17-  or 19-inch alloy wheels also feature as part of the upgrades on the hot Focus and Fiesta models and bring a 15 per cent weight saving over the standard wheels.

Ford also includes the previously announced 'Drift Stick' in collaboration with rallycross driver Ken Block, which can be specified on the Focus RS. The rally-style handbrake lever can be operated without a clutch and can lock the rear wheels in isolation on the 4x4 car for handbrake turns. It works in tandem with the hot hatch’s Drift Mode.
