Fiat 500 facelift revealed - pictures

This isn't an all-new 500 - just a facelifted variant.

The refresh comes at a good time as July 4 is eight years to the day after the modern 500 was revealed - and 58 years to the day after the original Cinquecento.

Inside, updates are wide-ranging - from a new five inch 'Uconnect' infotainment system to a TFT instrument display on Lounge spec cars.

Outside, the grille recieves minor updates and some new chrome trim.

There are new LED tail lights.

New LED daytime running lights replace the halogen ones - and optional Xenon headlights make an appearance.

All engines have been tweaked, but the changes are minor.

Full prices will be revealed closer to launch but the range will start at £10,890.

Fiat claim that changes to the chassis will improve comfort and handling.

Economy and emissions will be improved across the board.

Fiat will also be offering an array of body wraps dubbed 'Second Skin' - a cheap way to change the styling of the car with barmy options like tartan or camouflage available.

The cabin will feature extra soundproofing and more upmarket materials.

The 'Uconnect' system will feature options like Bluetooth, DAB, smartphone integration and TomTom satnav with live traffic information.

Entry-level Pop trim will retain the simple six-speaker system with USB/Aux connection.

Lounge spec cars will come with a seven-inch TFT instrument display providing driving information and all the Uconnect functions.
