Fiat 500 and Panda could look like this in 2020
Students from the RCA have designed how they think the Fiat Panda and 500 will look in the year 2020
Fiat has teamed up with the Royal College of Art and tasked students with designing what the Fiat Panda and Fiat 500 will look like in the year 2020. Out of 51 entries 10 winners have been chosen, with those successful having their creations turned into clay models and offered paid internships at Fiat’s Centro Stile.
Students were assigned different areas of the car to explore, such as the interior, exterior, interactivity, digital surfaces and sustainability but had to ensure core stylistic features of Fiat were not overlooked.
The concepts included a radical vision at the exterior design of the Fiat 500, dubbed ‘cheerfully irresponsible’ and a creative view at the interior of the Panda, called the Panda Hub, praised for its ‘innovative modularity’.
The creations were judged by Lorenzo Ramaciotti (Head of Global Design Fiat-Chrysler), Andreas Wuppinger (EMEA Design Fiat), senior designers as well as teachers and staff of the Royal College of Art.
The 10 winners will spend four-days in Turin where they will observe their ideas crafted into clay models, they will then be exhibited at the Royal College of Art. Such was the success of the project, Fiat has confirmed it will run the design study again in the New Year.
