Citroen and Le Coq Sportif team-up for classic H van homage

70 years of the Citroen H van celebrated with a one-off Citroen Dispatch bicycle workshop by French sportswear brand Le Coq Sportif

The Citroen H van, the classic commercial vehicle beloved of today’s trendy street-food vendors, is 70 years old this year. Citroen clearly felt it needed to mark the occasion and has chosen to do so with two very special one-off van conversions at the 2017 Commercial Vehicle Show.

In what the manufacturer describes as a “natural collaboration between two iconic French brands” Citroen joined forces with Le Coq Sportif to turn a classic H van and a modern Dispatch into mobile bicycle workshops. The two Citroen vehicles are decked-out in a cool tricolour colour scheme with the logos of sportswear brand, Le Coq Sportif, prominently placed.

Inside, the two vans offer bicycle repair facilities reflecting their respective times. The H van focuses on ‘authenticity and nostalgia’ with chocolate leather, light wood finishes and simple tools hanging from the walls. The Despatch treads a more modern path with black wood, white leather - featuring red, white and blue stitching - and a roof rack for carrying two bikes.

In the engine bay, the 1947 H van retains its 1.9-litre 52bhp engine, resulting in a claimed 63mph top speed. The Dispatch gets Citroen’s latest 1.6-litre BlueHDi Euro6 diesel. The two vans are set to be used at Le Coq Sportif promotional events throughout the year.
