New fuel offer from Morrisons

Morrisons supermarket latest fuel offer could mean big savings at the pump

Morrisons has launched a new fuel offer that could see motorists make massive savings at the supermarket's forecourts.

Rather than the standard ‘5p off per litre when you spend £50’ offer, the supermarket has joined up with 34 other shops in a new loyalty scheme.

Shoppers simply buy a gift card from Morrisons for one of the partners, including Homebase, Boots, Pizza Express and iTunes, and for every £10 they spend get a saving of 1p per litre on fuel.

The supermarket claims that if people are able to plan ahead in their shopping or eating out, then they will be able save on fuel costs. For instance if someone buys a £500 gift card for Homebase, they can claim a saving of 50p per litre. This works out to be a saving of £30 when filling up a car with a 60 litre tank.

It is only currently available at the stores, though Morrisons claims it will be attempting to get the service working online by 2013.

Buyers are given a standard shop receipt along with the voucher for fuel. This then has to be used within 63 days and can only be used in one transaction. Motorists only have to show the voucher, not the related receipt.

The fuel offer is available across 476 Morrisons stores in the UK, and can be redeemed at the company’s 302 petrol stations across the country. It includes all unleaded petrol, diesel and LPG.
