Apple working on more in-car integration

Drivers will be able to access Maps and Siri through their centre console

Apple Eyes Free

iPhone owners could soon be able to use the Maps app and Siri voice recognition tool via their vehicle’s entertainment system.

It has been reported that Apple is currently in discussion with car manufacturers about developing in-car integration for the next generation of its smartphone operating system.

It would mean that users of iOS7 – set to be launched in June – could connect their iPhones to their cars and bring up an optimised, redesigned version of Apple Maps on the centre console. As well as being able to use the app’s sat-nav function, drivers could control it via Siri.
