Best footballers' cars 2018

With top football players’ salaries now venturing past half a million a week, we look at what cars best suit their high-flying lifestyle

1. Range Rover

If there is an ultimate footballer’s car, the Range Rover is it. Land Rover’s flagship is an ever-present in training ground car parks throughout the land and with good reason.

The Range Rover is big and imposing but relatively commonplace so it won’t attract too much attention, especially with the requisite heavily tinted windows. At the top of the range, where footballers tend to gravitate, you’ve got the supercharged 5.0-litre V8 which churns out 550bhp in the ultra-plush SVAutobiography model. That’s enough for a 5.1s 0-60mph time and a 155mph top speed.

Beneath the massive exterior of the Range Rover is a massive interior that’s also beautifully designed. There’s a long-wheelbase option that adds 200mm of extra length for even more comfortable rear seat accommodation but even the standard car is very roomy for 5 adults. At the top of the line-up the Autobiography and SVAutobiography offer huge scope for personalisation and for bumping the price tag up over the £133,000 list price for the SVAutobiography. Of course, there’s no shortage of tuning companies who will sell the well-heeled footballer an even more heavily customised Range Rover, so the sky is the limit.
