The road safety charity says its ultimate driving test will make you the best driver you can be. As is the case with the IAM, you have to join a local group (annual membership is £20), and this will assign you a tutor who will prepare you for the exam. How long this takes depends on you, but the sessions are free.
Advanced police examiners conduct the test, and they grade candidates at bronze, silver or gold levels. You get a written report and, to maintain standards, will need to retake the test every three years.
Drivers learn how to improve concentration, observation and anticipation, plus car control. If you pass, you not only benefit from insurance discounts, but also get money off at Halfords.
