DCS RoadHawk RH1 in-car camera and recording system

Price: £199.95 Contact: 01726 891812, www.roadhawk.co.uk

There's a range of in-car cameras on the market, but few of them can be mounted as easily as this one from DCS.

The RoadHawk RH-1 fixes to your screen using a suction pad – just like a sat-nav.

The 1.3-megapixel camcorder can record at 30 frames per second (fps) or 6fps. Once fitted, it not only captures footage of your drive on an SD card, but also stores data on your location and speed – like a plane’s black box. If you have a crash, the exact time and road position are recorded, too.

The RH-1 is powered through the car’s cigar lighter socket. Once running, it will also monitor G-forces and even background noise.

Simply install RoadHawk’s supplied software on to your PC, and you can download all the video and data at the end of your drive.

The programme also lets you adjust the system’s settings. As such set-ups become more common, insurers could soon offer discounts for drivers using them.
