Kit Retractable in-car charger

Power for your gadgets with wire on a reel

Kit Retractable In Car Charger

Price: £19.99

Powering all your in-car gadgets doesn’t have to mean a mess of cables cluttering your cabin. Technology brand Kit’s new 12-volt charger will help you tidy up.

Plug the rather bulky unit into your car’s cigarette lighter socket, and you can pull out the thin metre-long cable and connect it to
your iPhone or iPod.

We like the fact that the LED light lets you know that your device is charging. Plus, we love the way the car’s 12-volt socket doesn’t become redundant with the Kit plugged in, as you can connect another device via the additional USB socket. Doing this meant we were able to charge an iPod and a sat-nav simultaneously.

The retractable cable recoiled very quickly when we pressed the button on the Kit, and if you simply want to shorten the length of the wire, it can be locked off at one-inch intervals.

We’re not sure it’s worth £20, but Amazon is currently running a half-price offer, which makes it a far more attractive proposition.

Verdict

Rating: ★★★
What is it?
Tidy way to keep your sat-nav, iPod and smartphone charged up in the cabin.
Problems?
Quite a bulky solution for in-car charging, expensive.
Why buy?
Clever way to keep your cabin tidy, powered iPod and sat-nav at same time.
