ValetPRO Enzyme Odour Eater review

We test the new cleaner from ValetPro that promises to shift odours

ValetPRO Enzyme Odour Eater

Price: £20 (one-litre bottle)

There’s nothing worse than a long journey in a smelly car. But an air freshener will only mask smells like tobacco or wet dog – to remove these, you’ll need something stronger. ValetPRO has just launched its Enzyme Odour Eater, and we’ve tried it.

You can’t use the product straight away, though, as the company doesn’t supply it pre-mixed in a spray bottle. To get started, you’ll need to dilute it yourself: one part Enzyme to five parts water. It can be used neat, but the one-litre bottle won’t last long if you do that.

After you’ve mixed up the solution in your own spray bottle, it’s easy to use – simply squirt it on upholstery and leave it to do its work. We tested the product in the boot and on the rear seats of our test car, which smelled of wet dog.

You’re not supposed to rinse or dab it with a cloth, which meant the surface remained quite damp for a

while. This is worth bearing in mind if you plan to carry passengers shortly after you’ve finished cleaning.

Enzyme was great at removing odours, though, and our car’s unpleasant whiff was replaced by a fresh lemon fragrance. But we’d expect a spray bottle to be included for the £20 price.

Verdict

Rating: ★★★
What is it?
Cleaner which removes odours from your car.
What's good?
Removed odour and left pleasant smell behind. Good value if diluted at a ratio of 1:5, too.
What's bad?
You need your own spray bottle and have to dilute the formula yourself. It also leaves surfaces wet.
