Osram Cuby and Raystar LED lights

New Osram lights are available in a wide choice of colours for Raystar torches and Cuby lights

Osram Cuby and Raystar LED lights

Price: £17.99 (Raystar); £19.99 (Cuby)

Not all cars have reading lamps in the rear, and passengers wanting to read on a long night-time journey can’t use the main interior light, as it will distract the driver. So Osram’s new Cuby lamp could be the answer.

It hooks over the car’s grab handle and shines an intense light beam – with its 20-lumen LED output easily enough light to read with. Plus, the stylish silicone rubber design is dirt resistant. The light can shine for three hours at a time, and it takes another three hours to recharge to full capacity again from flat.

Joining the Cuby is the Raystar handheld torch, which is useful if you need light under the bonnet. The Raystar has a brighter 70-lumen light, and costs £17.99, although you’ll need a spare hand to hold it – unlike the Cuby, it doesn’t incorporate a hook.

Neither needs batteries as charging is via USB. And there’s a choice of black, pink, white and blue finishes for both lights.
