Vauxhall GT Concept revealed at Geneva 2016 - pictures

The new Opel&nbsp;<a href="https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/vauxhall/92984/vauxhall-gt-concept-makes-geneva-say-wow">GT Concept</a>&nbsp;- from Vauxhall's parent company - pays homage to its 'sixties predecessor.

It takes styling cues from the Opel GT of the sixties.

These are the official pictures of the Vauxhall GT Concept.

It's a tiny, rear-wheel-drive sports car which previews an exciting design for the brand.

The GT Concept uses a 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine, based on the unit found in the Corsa.

The engine will provide 143bhp, making for a top speed of 134mph and 0-62mph in less than eight seconds.

The GT Concept's bold styling includes a red line running from the front tyres right through to the rear of the car.

Vauxhall engineers aimed to decrease the number of shut lines on the car with a novel door design.

The front grille is wider than on current Vauxhalls, and could preview the firm's new design language.

The doors open right up to the front wheels, making for a wider opening and fewer shut lines.

The interior is a simple and minimalist affair.

While we're unlikely to see anything like this GT in Vauxhall showrooms, chief designer Mark Adams has hinted that the design could inspire the basis of an overhauled future range.
