New-look Toyota Avensis and Auris: engines, tech and prices - pictures

We were granted privileged access to the heavily revised Avensis and Auris family cars. 

The new Avensis has benefitted from a comprehensive styling overhaul, with a more aggressive look at the front. 

The rear of the Avensis Touring Sports looks wider thanks to a new bumper and light clusters. 

Toyota has spent a lot of time changing the interior of the Avensis. Build quality is now top-notch, but still doesn't fell quite as special as the VW Passat or Ford Mondeo. 

Two new trims join the line-up, aimed specifically at fleet users. These are Business Edition and Business Edition Plus. 

There are a choice of BMW-sourced diesel engines, while there's also a 1.8-litre petrol engine for those who don't want a diesel. 

Interior space remains unchanged in the Avensis, so there's a 509-litre boot in the saloon and a 543-litre boot in the estate (pictured). 

Toyota has given the Auris similar updates to the Avensis, with the most notable difference at the front end. 

Tweaked front-end brings the Auris in line with the rest of the Toyota range. 

Biggest news for the updated Auris is the addition of a new 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol turbo engine, producing 114bhp. 

Cabin in the Auris gets upgraded materials and a revised centre console. 

Interior space remains the same in the Auris. 

Estate remains as practical as ever, with large, flexible boot and plenty of room in the rear seats. 

Full pricing for the new Auris has yet to be revealed. 

Most notable difference inside the facelifted Auris is the smart new 'floating' eight-inch touchscreen.
