Auto Express New Car Awards 2025 - the winners

The 2025 Auto Express New Car Awards have arrived, and we’re struggling to remember a year that proved to be so tough at the top. It’s a reflection of just how well so many car manufacturers – both new and old – are managing to embrace fresh technology, while still delivering a range of products that suits everyone.

There’s plenty to love in 2025, regardless of your preferred fuel. Petrol-powered favourites have been updated, while electrification has enhanced some of our more aspirational categories. A total of 12 of our 27 category winners are available with fully electric powertrains, and some of those cars have petrol or hybrid options, too. Two-thirds of our category winners are available with a petrol or diesel engine.

Some cars may retain their New Car Awards titles from last year but the speed of progress in the car world means we’ve certainly got a bumper crop of brand-new winners that were launched in the 12 months since our 2024 New Car Awards were handed out.
