Portable sat-navs

Garmin nüvi 760 (Issue 1,000), Price: £189.99, Contact: 023 8052 4000, www.garmin.co.uk

In the fast-moving world of portable satellite navigation, models and even manufacturers are coming and going every month, it seems.

And there is a vast choice of features as these increasingly hi-tech units start to offer much more than simply a guide
to your destination. Our current favourite is the Garmin nüvi 760. For all their impressive specifications, the alternatives we lined up for our test couldn’t beat the nüvi’s impressive Points of Interest or its Bluetooth hands-free system – which not only reads out text messages from your mobile, but also directional camera data. What’s more, guidance was perfect. And at £189.99, the Garmin is now great value, as that’s £70 less than when we tested it.
